The work “Hazmat” was realized over the course of 2020. It presents a humorous engagement with the chaos of the pandemic at the time, particularly the panic-buying of toilet paper. In the piece, the performer, dressed in a hazmat suit, goes for a walk in the neighborhood, but on all fours on toilet paper, ensuring no contact with the ground.

“Hazmat” was edited from photographs into a stop-motion film and then “datamoshed,” which caused the cuts to appear as a kind of visual distortion. To achieve this, the pixel information of the video frames was corrupted using the program Avidemux, mimicking the behavior of a virus.
